Portrait of Alice Durilla

Alice Durilla

Alice Durilla was born and grew up in Angurugu. When she was young she would watch her father paint. Alice’s sister learnt to paint from her husband and her father.

Alice paints on canvas with acrylic and painted for a long time with her husband – the late Alfred Lalara. Together, they painted using traditional Groote Eylandt dash work in ochre and paint.
