Durban Bagii Weaving Workshop

Join a weaving circle !

Aboriginal Art Co is proud to host Durban Bagii Weaving Workshop with Carly Wallace.

Carly has cultural ties to Yungaburra in Far North Queensland, and Durban Bagii translates to ‘carrying bags’ in ‘Yidiny’ language from the area. Now based in Meeanjin (Brisbane), Carly uses a range of different fibres and weaving techniques to make her woven creations such as baskets, earrings and more.

In this intimate weaving circle, you will learn a basic coiling techniques and walk away with a woven creation; whether it be the start of a basket or a set of earrings. The real joy is in the company and conversation. Carly will share her personal story and journey behind her weaving practice. You will also enjoy light catering by native food specialists, Three Little Birds.
