Jeanette is a highly skilled fibre artist, having received her artistic education from her mother, Nancy Walanyinawuy. Nancy’s guidance and teachings have been a source of inspiration for numerous fibre artists in Gapuwiyak.

Crafted from Gunga, also known as Pandanus Palm, this intricately woven basket involves a meticulous coiling technique, and it is coloured with dyes derived from native bush plants.

Jeanette Guyula Bowden is from Gapuwiyak, also known as Lake Evella, an Aboriginal Australian community located in north-eastern Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, 25 kilometres south of the head of Buckingham Bay and about the same distance south-west of Arnhem Bay.
