Bula’bula Arts

Bula’bula Arts is located in the Ramingining community in Central Arnhem Land, 400 kilometres east of Darwin.

Bula’bula means the voice/tongue of Gandayala (red kangaroo) Ramingining’s Creation Being. The name represents the message in the song cycle of the red kangaroo’s journey from the Roper River to the Ramingining region. This story, and others related to the different language groups from the area showcase the unique Ramingining-style. Bula’bula artworks are steeped in spiritual, ritual and historical narratives across a variety of mediums: print, painting, sculpture, fibre art, song, dance, as well as film and literature mediums.

Bula’bula Arts preserves and maintains Yolngu culture and strong cultural identity through art as well as storytelling, ceremony, hunting, fishing and cultural practices.
