Dylan Mark Bolger

Dylan is a proud descendant of the Maiawali, Karuwali, Pitta-Pitta and Gomeroi peoples. Dylan approaches all his projects by combining his art, culture and technical expertise to deliver unique outcomes.

Dylan worked in the Aboriginal Art Co studio for 8 weeks creating a body of work for his exhibition: Leaf SZN.

Leaf SZN recognises the resilience and the Blakness, in the built environment of so called ‘Australia’, through the Macaranga leaf. The Macaranga, being of old world genesis, is considered to be a re-coloniser or pioneer plant. After devastation, it is one of the first plants to grow back and breathe new life into space. The concept of the Macaranga leaf is a representation of First Nations people and culture being of ‘old world genesis’ as Aboriginal people grow back through the devastation of colonisation.
