Casual Retail/Gallery Assistant

At Aboriginal Art Co, our store is more than a retail space. It is a place where people connect with culture, discover incredible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, and hear the stories behind the work.

As we continue to grow and prepare for an exciting new chapter in West End, we are looking for a warm, enthusiastic and reliable Casual Retail Assistant to join our team.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves people, has an eye for beautiful presentation, and wants to work in a creative environment that champions First Nations artists and ethical, authentic art.

Working closely with our team, you will help create a welcoming experience for everyone who walks through our doors. From helping customers find the perfect artwork or gift, to carefully packing online orders and supporting exhibition openings, every day will be different.

  • Helping create social media content and supporting marketing activities
  • Maintaining the presentation of the store, including visual merchandising
  • Assisting with exhibition openings, events and tours
  • Supporting administration, sales reporting and stocktake

We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised, confident speaking with customers and genuinely excited about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art and culture.

  • Feel confident using computers, social media and basic online systems
  • Have an eye for detail and presentation
  • Are available to work weekdays, with occasional evenings or Saturdays for events

Experience with Shopify, online sales, visual merchandising or arts administration would be highly regarded, but most importantly we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, thoughtful and excited to be part of our small team.
