Linocut Printmaking with Tamika Grant-Iramu

Explore Flora Through Print – A Creative Hands-On Workshop
Join artist Tamika Grant-Iramu for a relaxing and inspiring 4-hour workshop as she introduces you to the art of relief printmaking. Tamika’s practice is shaped by her Torres Strait Islander and Papua New Guinean heritage, combined with the Western influences of her upbringing — a fusion that informs her distinctive exploration of organic patterns, flora, and storytelling through print.
Guided by Tamika’s expertise, you’ll learn how to use a range of carving tools and techniques to design and print your very own flora-inspired greeting cards.
This beginner-friendly workshop will guide you through three key stages of linocut printmaking:
Drawing from reference – Begin by sketching using a botanical image for inspiration.
Carving techniques – Experiment with different tools to create texture, tone, and pattern.
Printing your design – Ink and press your hand-carved block onto paper to bring your design to life.
What to Bring:
- Clothes you don’t mind getting inky, or an apron.
- A botanical reference image – close-up photos of leaves, flowers, or plant forms (printed or digital). Sample images will also be provided if needed.
Whether you’re keen to learn a new skill, relax through creativity, or simply enjoy a hands-on artistic experience, this workshop offers a welcoming space to explore and create. Tamika will guide you every step of the way, sharing her knowledge, process, and love of printmaking.
Light lunch is included in your ticket. Come along to create, connect, and be inspired in a warm and supportive environment.
