Returns Policy
Aboriginal Art Co Returns Policy
At Aboriginal Art Co, we are committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, makers, Art Centres and communities through the ethical sale of authentic artworks and products. As many of the items we sell are handmade, one-of-a-kind, or produced in limited quantities, our returns policy reflects the unique nature of these works.
Change of Mind
We do not offer refunds for change of mind purchases.
Please choose carefully before making your purchase. If you have any questions about an artwork or product prior to purchasing, our team is happy to provide additional information, photographs, or measurements.
Damaged or Faulty Items
If your order arrives damaged or faulty, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your item by emailing hello@aboriginalartco.org.
Please include:
- Your order number
- A description of the issue
- Clear photographs of the damage or fault
- Photographs of any damaged packaging (if applicable)
We will assess the issue and, where appropriate, offer a replacement, repair, store credit, or refund in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.
Original Artworks
All original artworks are sold with a Certificate of Authenticity and are carefully inspected prior to dispatch.
Due to the unique nature of original artworks, we are unable to accept returns for:
- Change of mind
- Minor variations in colour, texture, framing, or materials
- Natural characteristics of handmade artworks
If an artwork arrives damaged during transit, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery and retain all original packaging materials for insurance purposes.
Handmade Products
Many products sold through Aboriginal Art Co are handmade. Small variations in colour, size, weave, finish, or materials are part of the handmade process and should not be considered faults.
Natural Materials
Many artworks and products sold through Aboriginal Art Co are made using natural materials including fibres, grasses, feathers, shells, seeds, timber, ochres, natural pigments, and other materials sourced from Country.
As these materials are organic in nature, variations in colour, texture, shape, and ageing are to be expected and form part of the unique character of the work. Over time, natural materials may change in appearance due to environmental conditions such as light exposure, humidity, temperature, and handling.
These natural characteristics and changes are not considered faults and do not constitute grounds for return, refund, or exchange.
To ensure the longevity of your artwork or product, we recommend following any care instructions provided and displaying or storing items away from direct sunlight, excessive moisture, and extreme temperatures.
Sale Items
Sale, clearance, and discounted items are final sale and cannot be returned unless they are faulty under Australian Consumer Law.
Shipping Costs
Where a return is approved due to a fault or damage, Aboriginal Art Co will arrange return shipping or reimburse reasonable return postage costs.
Shipping costs for change-of-mind returns (where exceptionally approved) are the responsibility of the customer.
Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or modifies your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement, repair, or refund for goods that are faulty, not as described, or fail to meet consumer guarantees.
