Kanta kanta kalu yirani kuruwarri pirrjirdi

Kanta kanta kalu yirani kuruwarri pirrjirdi (all the women are painting strong stories) brings together the work of five emerging women artists from Warlukurlangu Artists, one of Australia's most celebrated Aboriginal-owned art centres, located in Yuendumu on Warlpiri Country in the Northern Territory.

Through vibrant compositions, bold colour palettes and unique painting styles, the artists share stories connected to Country, ancestral knowledge, bush foods, water sources and the enduring strength of Warlpiri culture. While grounded in tradition, each artist brings a fresh perspective, reflecting both the continuity and evolution of contemporary Aboriginal art.

This exhibition celebrates the next generation of Warlpiri women painters - artists whose strong stories, cultural authority and creative confidence signal an exciting future for Aboriginal art.

Warlukurlangu means ‘belonging to fire’ in the local language, Warlpiri, and is named for a fire dreaming site west of Yuendumu.
