This painting depicts Lappi Lappi, a significant rock hole near Lake Hazlett in Western Australia, an important site for the Nampijinpa/Jampijinpa and Nangala/Jangala peoples.
In the Jukurrpa (Dreaming), Lappi Lappi was a gathering place where mothers and children came for its water and food, until the Warnayarra (Rainbow Serpent), a powerful ancestral being, emerged from beneath the rock hole and consumed them while they sang and danced.
The work reflects Lappi Lappi’s deep cultural and spiritual significance as both a life-giving place and a sacred ancestral site.

Each Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander artist, art centre and business are unique and prices are negotiated and can vary.
Generally speaking, we take a 30% commission on sales to cover our overheads; it costs to have a prime location in a Brisbane metro area, professional staff, insurances, marketing and communications, administration and general expenses running a gallery and retail space.
