Rick Roser is a Fire Maker, Artist, Workshop Presenter, Artefact Maker and Ochre Supplier. Born in Brisbane in 1955, he grew up with his brother, three sisters and uncle, travelling and working with their parents across Queensland in the 1960s as field workers. His grandmother was Bigambul, from the Qld/NSW border, adopted and later sent to work on local farms. His father, self-taught, became a published writer of Indigenous history and poetry. His mother, of German ancestry, was an early feminist and also published. Rick and his siblings were raised on the road, living simply, learning through work, story and country.
